    1. As a big fan of the various TV series this is clearly moulded on, I really enjoyed this opener and I m looking forward to the next instalments and seeing the story and its characters develop Ironically it s what I like about this book that might be a downside for others i.e it s solidly in the mainstream of the genre with so far no real surprises, but frankly who cares It s a great story with heaps of potential Bring it on.

    2. Unlikely space opera with a pleasant hook at the end Healey at least acknowledges that his story defies known physics The whole business of a space ship surviving passage through a black hole, though an SF mainstay, is too silly to merit inclusion in a serious story This, obvious, isn t.Unlikely to read .

    3. I was extremely disappointed in the length of this book I did not pay attention to the length when I downloaded and was surprised to see after an hour I was almost finished with this book That is a personal choice, I do not particularly enjoy short stories Beyond that I would be happy to read the next book, but I am not paying for a book I expect to be done with in a couple hours.

    4. This was a fairly quick read with decent action and the beginning of good characters I didn t mind the story but there wasn t a lot of world building and some of the scenarios were just a little too implausible I don t mind stretching the imagination a bit but stretching it against a known fact without any explanation is harder to swallow I liked the military aspect of the story but again, had trouble believing a couple of things I just can t see a captain leaving the bridge in the middle of a f [...]

    5. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder In my eyes, this is an extreemely boring book I am rarely getting bored by a book But compared to this, even the ones with endless descriptions like in Artur C Clark novels are full of action.I don t want to imply this is a bad book All I am saying is that if it takes 50% of the book to get from the railock to a funeral on the space station than it s not for me.

    6. BorderlineThis book definitely gets ones attention Easily a five star book but for one major failing in my opinion anyway Not only is it too short but also sucks you in then leaves you hanging Imagine a Harry Potter book broken into several pieces, each ending on a cliffhanger I m definitely going to give the series a chance though.

    7. A nice easy read with a few interesting characters but not much plot to go on in such a short teaser Unfortunately there are many other, better, writers and stories available and I won t be pursuing this tale.

    8. this was a decent book Had some really good parts The writing could be better He seems to repeat the same scene word for word a few times Other than that, I enjoyed it I m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

    9. FAR FROM HOME 1 LEGENDA commander comes to captain her star ship on the death of her captain, and then leads an enemy dreading through a Blackpool I enjoyed it even if the rider does pay homage to almost every sci fi show and movie ever made.

    10. An entertaining story, though a bit clich d, with some tense moments, but let down by underdeveloped characters and some poor editing.Still, I can recommend it if you re looking for a quick, light Sci fi read.

    11. I actually read the omnibus all three trilogies in one book This is the beginning Very good story The writing is okay, too.

    12. An extremely quick read chock full of sci fi cliches Not literature, but everyone likes candy once in a while
