    1. This was a very good read I would recommend it to anyone, especially to those that grew up in the 1950 s or 1960 s, with a fascination of the night sky The author s life had some parallels with mine that created a sense deja vu as I read his book However, where Tom chose to look skyward with a powerful instrument, his first telescope, as a young man, I decided to focus pun intended on the animalcules in a drop of pond water with a microscope I did watch the night sky but with binoculars for abo [...]

    2. I bought this for two reasons 1 because I m in the process of writing a book in a similar vein and 2 because I really just wanted a good book about the stars Not astronomy, per se, but the stars themselves The stars and what they mean to amateur astronomers like Mr Watson and myself I wanted a book that expressed the wonder and the joy of discovering the night sky and all the hidden gems within it And that s exactly what I got.More than just a book about his love for the stars, it will remind yo [...]

    3. This book was one my book club chose to read Admittedly, I didn t finish it because I borrowed it and wanted to get it back to the owner While I found it hard to get into because I wasn t very interested in the topic, it is likely anyone interested in amateur astronomy would enjoy reading this book.I did enjoy the way Mr Watson described adding a rock to weigh his telescope down so it wouldn t wobble or the way he described his eagerness to view the stars The story was a whimsical memoir of yout [...]

    4. confession i didn t finish this whole book although it was a fun, easy and informative read, i wasn t super motivated to finish it.

    5. I really enjoyed this book, even though I have not done amateur astronomy for years The writing is excellent, and the story interesting enough to hold my attention. An entertaining read for all.
